Flexbox or not?

Does anyone know of a tutorial for creating a layout like this with flexbox?

I keep thinking there is something I’m missing with flexbox that would eliminate the nesting it seems to take.

I’m just throwing this out there cause I’m no expert by far, but could you do a flexbox inside a column? Box 1 would be in column 1 and 2-5 would be a flexbox inside column 2?
