Exclude Footer from Search Indexing

Hey there,

I’ve got a Footer set as a component with navigation/sitemap info that is placed on every page so if I make a change on one it populates the others, of course.

However, when setting up the search function, I noticed that when searching for a subject “Men” for example, it shows the primary “Men’s” page, but then it also lists every other page of the website, regardless of it’s relevance, because it has the word “Men” in the footer.

I checked the box on the root div of the component that says “Exclude from Search” but every div or container within it shows the option grayed out with a check in the box. But still the information shows up in search.

Is there any way to exclude this component from the search function?

Here is my site Read-Only: Webflow - CrossWalk Church

It looks like Webflow has at some point added the ability to exclude content hierarchically, i.e. parent and children  I’m so happy to see that improvement. So your setup looks good.

Make sure you republish, it will show up until the next search engine indexing, which is about 72 hours I think on most plans. You can expedite that by doing a manual reindex once a day.
