DNS settings for exotic domains bug?

Hi there,

I’ve reserved the domain “snowfla.ke” with 101domain.com.

Unfortunately, when I set the custom domain to “snowfla.ke”, I don’t get the correct DNS settings shown, and also only for the root domain with a CNAME (which should be for the subdomain www if I’m not mistaken), see the screenshot:

I tried to anyway include the standard dns settings into 101domain, the registrar but I get a:

“ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR” when trying to open the site on http://snowfla.ke/

I think it might have something to do with an error message that is show for a fraction of a second in the webflow interface when adding the custom domain, I took a screenshot of it as well (otherwise it was impossible to read it):

I also texted the support, but didn’t get any reply so far… any help is appreciated, thanks in advance!

Hi @Max2 thank you so much for posting this! It looks like the domain extension of .ke isn’t something we had accounted for when building out the DNS guides.

I checked your DNS records and they are correctly configured (it looks like a few are still propagating globally, though).

Could you please try the following:

  • Delete this CAA record (we’re otherwise unable to issue an SSL Certificate)
  • Set your www version of your domain as your default domain
  • Turn SSL Off and then back On again
  • Publish your site to your custom domain

Please let me know if this solves the problem.
If not, I’m happy to help you further!

Thanks so much Waldo!

It is working now as expected
