We’ve discovered that the order of ecommerce processing for PayPal is confusing some customers and I’m wondering if anyone else has faced this issue.
A lot of our promotion is email marketing and discount codes, over half of our users pay with PayPal. After adding an item to the cart and selecting “Pay with PayPal”, users are directed straight to PayPal where they see the full price of the item and can authorise payment. Only then is the user redirected back to the PayPal checkout page on the website (where they can then add a discount code to the order). This sequence seems counter-intuitive for the customer and we’ve received quite a few complaints / queries about it.
Ultimately I don’t believe anything can be done but I’m checking in with the great minds here!
