Curation of Made in Webflow cloneable projects? GDPR cookie banner?

So, I just did a Google search for “webflow cookie banner” and landed on this page from the provided results.

When you click on some of these to preview them, like the one that’s been cloned 1,000 times, it actually doesn’t work on my end. Same deal with the one right next to it.

  1. Does Webflow curate the content to ensure it actually works and does what it says it’s doing?
  2. Is there a working GDPR cookie banner with a preview that’s the gold standard?
  3. Have all the best GDPR banners simply become Pay to Play?

You’re looking at “Made in Webflow” which is community-submitted projects. they can be anything at all. No Webflow does not review or audit personal designs and product shares in the way it audits templates ( which is quite strict ).

You probably need to clone, publish, and test. It’s unlikely the functionality would work the same in an IFRAME. Same is true of many Made in Webflow sites.

Finsweet’s paid solution is perhaps the most commonly used solution in the Webflow community.

Thanks for the response.

I’d have thought there would be some level of curation since it lives within the Webflow ecosystem. What someone does outside of Webflow obviously can’t be curated, unless there is a case of infringement.

I’ll double-check the instructions as this might be an implementation issue on my end. For one of these however, I looked at it with the developer tools console and I can see several serious errors (23) that prevent the cookie banner from working as intended so I don’t think it’s an IFRAME issue but rather a problem with the way the API is being called and the developer never updated their project to include the changes.

I’ll dig deeper into this as it might still be an IFRAME issue, which I didn’t know about before so thank you for that insight as well.

None whatsoever. I believe there’s some automated auditing done to prevent abuse by bad actors, but otherwise it’s community content that is audited by the community- just like this forum.

100% possible. Browsers and libs change. You’ll find a lot of outdated projects there. I regularly come across projects that still use Interactions 1.0, which are barely accessible in Webflow now.

Cookie banners are sufficiently complex in terms of the consent, classification, and timing of cookie creation that you’ll really want to choose a solution with good docs and modern capabilities.
