Creating collections page

Hi,

I have created a very simple community engagement website for a client.
The site has a news page, which, when supplied I have to add a new story to.
I’m looking at collection pages as a solution - so that my client can access via the editor and create the pages themselves without me having to set up and design the page for them.

I have created a collection page template and a dummy collection list but I am unable to populate the heading or body copy on the page? I’ve only just tried to get my head around collections but could do with some experienced members taking a look please.

I’m unable to choose from a purple dropdown box as in the videos I’ve been watching.

Could someone please shed some light on this for me please.

Hi @danielcobb

I think this is because the header and body copy are within a symbol - so if you either drag them outside the symbol, or unlink that instance of the symbol (the collection page template) using cmd+shift+a then you will see the purple option for linking to a collection :slightly_smiling_face:

Correct.

Unlinking the symbol worked.
Now that the template is sorted, if my client wants to add a new story what is best practice using collections? TIA

Thanks for your help.

Next up would be setup your client for ‘Editor’ access - they will be provided with their own login to make content changes (but not change your design). To create a new news story, they would login and click to create a new entry, and either save as draft or publish when ready :slightly_smiling_face:
