cPanel Redirect to Page section

Hey Guys,
I’m using cPanel to host currently. I’d like to redirect a link from my old website (that is circulating via hardcopy marketing) to a section in my new site.
www.narrowspark.co.nz/ilovemygirls to www.narrowspark.co.nz/#motherdaughters

can’t seem to get around the hashtag…
http://www.narrowspark.co.nz/%23motherdaughters

Hi @Alabone, just to confirm, how are you doing the redirection currently? Are you using something in cpanel to do the redirect, or how do you have that setup currently?

Normally if you are using an external server, the link would be:

But if the hashtag is getting converted, that sounds like some kind of redirect issue at the source of the redirect. Cheers, Dave

Cheers cyberdave.
Currently I’m just linking to the page. In the old site, it’s not a section of the page it’s just a stand alone page (for events for example) so no need for a hashtag to find the page and drag the viewer down to a section (as I’ve now created in webflow).
It seems to want to convert the hashtag to %23 and then doesn’t link through.

From what i’ve read, I found that some said it could be an htaccess problem that I’m not familiar with.
Thoughts?

Hi @Alabone, Thank you very much for the update. This information really helps  I think it might be something to do with the .htaccess rewrite rules setup on the external hosting.

Check this page out, it might help: https://revolvedmedia.com/htaccess-rewrite-changes-anchor-tag-hash-%23-destination-url/

I hope this helps. If not, please let me know – I’m happy to assist further!

Cheers,
Dave

Legend Dave. Too easy.
