Contemplate Template Questions

I have just downloaded the Contemplate template, mainly because I like the functionality of the Contact dropdown tiles. However, now that I’m in the design mode and trying to customize that sequence, I can’t seem to figure out how to edit it. Whenever I select those elements to start styling, there is nothing visible on my screen and I cannot see what I am editing. I am probably missing something very obvious, can anyone help?
