Confused about position hierarchy

Hi there,

I’m totally confused about what position to set different elements on this blog article design:

Problem
Across the site, we use a number of symbols that should just drop automatically to the bottom of the page/next section, however, due to the position attribute of the above sections this isn’t happening.

Can anyone help advise on a solution here please?
