Condition visibility of a CMS item if it has set a reference to another collection

Do you know if there is a way to condition visibility if a cms item has a reference to another collection?

Not that I know of, but it might be possible to hack together using custom code.

I’m building an ecommerce site, I have one collection of products which has a reference field to another collection of colours.

I’m building a dropdown menu that I want to contain those colours referenced. But I want to hide that menu if the product doesn’t have that reference.
