CMS Item Reference Not Displaying in New Blog Post

Hi Webflow Support,

I have a recurring CMS setup on my site https://www.sharonpc.com, where I manage a collection of Ingredients and a collection of Blog Posts. The system has always worked like this: I connect specific ingredients to a blog post by linking them from the Ingredient CMS item (not the blog post itself). This way, when viewing a blog post, the related ingredient appears correctly.

For example, everything works as expected in this post:

However, in my latest blog post, this setup no longer seems to work:
:backhand_index_pointing_right: A Novel, Multifunctional, Natural-Based Emollient: An Exhaustive Characterization of Sharofeel DS | Sharon Personal Care

I linked the ingredient Sharonfeel DS from its CMS item to the new blog post — exactly as I’ve done with previous posts — but it doesn’t show up on the post page.

To investigate further, I did a couple of tests:

  • I added Sharonfeel DS to the old blog post — and it shows up correctly there.
  • I took ingredients from the old blog post and linked them to the new blog post — but they don’t show up either.

It seems like the issue affects only new blog posts. Everything is correctly linked on the backend, but nothing appears on the published page.

Could you please help me understand what might be going wrong?

Thanks in advance!
Best regards,

Hi there,

Collection template pages need to be explicitly published for their individual item pages to be accessible. Here’s how to check and adjust your publish settings:

  1. Open the Pages panel in your Designer
  2. Locate your Collection template page
  3. Hover over the template and click the settings (gear) icon
  4. Select “Publish settings”
  5. Make sure the publish toggle is switched to “on”

Once enabled, this will ensure all your Collection item pages are published with your site and properly indexed.

Hopefully this helps! If you still need assistance, please reply here so somebody from the community can help.

I took a quick glance and I do not see any ref / multi-ref links in either Blog or Ingredients.
I do see a Category however.

Probably you’ve designed it so that the Blog article shows Ingredients in the same category?

Hi,
thank you very much.
I followed the instructions from the Webflow staff, but unfortunately I can’t find any “Publish settings” in my project — maybe I’m just not looking in the right place. I’m attaching a screenshot.

As for Michael Wells’ reply — unfortunately, I don’t know exactly how the site was originally built, since I wasn’t the one who created it.
However, I don’t think it’s set up to only show ingredients from the same category, because older blog posts are working correctly and displaying the linked ingredients if they’re set… but i don’t know…
Thank you in advance!
best,

The AI response suggested you check page publishing, which is useful. Step 1 is to go to the pages panel, you’ll see it in the left side bar.

I found the multiref, in Ingredients, I probably didn’t scroll far enough.
It looks like you may have linked to the wrong blog article?

You seem to have two, “A novel”, and then “A Novel, Multifunctional…”
I’m guessing you want to select the multifunctional one to associate the ingredient with?

Thank you so much for your reply, no, unfortunately I didn’t link the wrong article, I had simply taken it out to do some testing, to see if I understood the problem by trying to insert other articles, also trying to make new articles…Now I’ve put the correct article back in, but it doesn’t work…
In the ingredient ‘sharofeel ds’ I entered both the article ‘A Novel, Multifunctional, Natural…’ and the article ‘Sharon Emulsifier Selector’, and the ingredient only shows up in the article ‘Sharon Emulsifier Selector’. Like the problem is in the new articles, but I can’t figure out why…
thank you very much for your time!

That’s better, but you’ve changed your page again
The item is showing fine, you’re just hiding the section.

Here’s your Emulsifier blog post-

And your Multifunctional blog post-

But you have a conditional visibility setting on the entire section containing that collection list-

thank you very much
I had not seen this setting!
everything works now,
super
