Changing CMS published on and created on dates as part of a data migration

I’m trying to migrate data from a competitor platform to Webflow, and I’m running into an issue with being able to back-date the ‘published on’ and ‘created on’ fields. I do not wish to create another date field in the cms, but instead, I’d like to use the fields as intended. What tools does Webflow provide for migrating data like this?

Quite simply it does not. You have to work around this limitation.

Are you joking about this? Migrating data is a prevalent task that Webflow should support unless they are only interested in greenfield projects.

If you are here, please upvote the initial question! It is not ethical to misrepresent the date of something that was already published. As someone who regularly recommends switching to webflow, it is disappointing that we cannot batch override this field via csv as part of a regular migration.

Hi Luke,

Be careful not to misunderstand those dates, especially published on. I does not represent the time the item was first published, but rathe the time it was most recently updated.

If you want a date first-published, you’ll want to create your own field.
