Blog Design - Collection Item Not Behaving as per Tutorial

Hi folks,

I’m following this tutorial on setting up a blog on YT and am completely stumped at 34:40…

At 34:40 OP drags the Heading from his Quick Stack into the Collection Item.

The Heading magically dupicates to populate both columns in the Collection Item.

When I do the same, my Heading doesn’t duplicate and refuses to match the format settings of when it’s in Quick Stack. I’ve spent 3 hrs on this part of the tut and got nowhere. Please send help before I chew my arm off.

Many thanks for any support offered :)

Hi there,

Here’s how to duplicate content in a grid:

For Mac users:

  • Use Option + Drag to create copies with the same class and styling
  • Hold Command while dragging elements to add multiple items into a grid cell

For Windows users:

  • Use Alt + Drag to create copies with the same class and styling
  • Hold Control while dragging elements to add multiple items into a grid cell

When working with multiple elements in a grid cell, first add a div block as the direct grid child, then add your other elements using the keyboard shortcuts above.

Hopefully this helps! If you still need assistance, please reply here so somebody from the community can help.

Many thanks for your response, I’ll give that a go

Thanks for your help, while it helped in copying the actual content from the QuickStack into the Collections List it didn’t duplicate the content to populate both sections of my grid in Collection Item 2.

I’m almost certain it’s the grid thing that needs looking at as I can’t see both columns I’ve created in the Collection Item 2.

I can’t seem to edit this grid in order to see both coloumns I’ve created. If I could then I could drop a second heading for Article Name and Date/Author flex block in as per the first one.

Any help much appreciated
