Bing Webmaster Indexing Issue

Hi Guys,

I checked a live URL in Bing, and it says the URL can be indexed. However, when I use the URL Inspection tool, it shows the message: “The inspected URL is known to Bing but has some issues which are preventing indexation.”

I have reviewed the guidelines and also contacted Webflow. They confirmed that the website is working fine with no issues related to the sitemap, robots.txt file, H1, H2 tags, etc. They advised me to contact the Bing team. i contacted Bing…they said… your website is following guidelines .they did not mention the the specific issue.

Could you please guide me on which webmaster guideline rule I might not be following? website is working fine on google search console. is there anyone faced the same issue?

Thank you!

Same issue there. Apparently, the robot.txt file automatically generated by Webflow does not meet Bing’s requirements. In its guidelines, Bing says:

But no control over the Webflow generated robots.txt file…

It seems you’ve done a complete scan of your site and adhered to all the prescribed guidelines, yet Bing’s URL Inspection tool continues to report issues. Although your site is working perfectly on Google Search Console, Bing occasionally has its own unique issues or different criteria that might influence indexation. Maybe the problem is with something such as crawlability, server response time, or even Bing’s internal indexing algorithms, which may not be the same as Google’s. Although the sitemap and robots.txt are accurate, it could also be worth investigating if there are any dynamic or hidden content problems (e.g., heavily JavaScript-based content that Bing may have issues with) or server response errors that may be keeping it from being indexed correctly. Also, ensure that the page is not blocked by a meta tag or is not marked as low-quality content by Bing filters. As Bing did not provide specific information, you may have to try by eliminating or simplifying items such as redirects or strange URL parameters and then submit for re-indexing. It’s also worth investigating whether your site’s domain has any penalties or whether there are any issues outstanding from Bing’s point of view that aren’t at first glance obvious.

eh? IIRC when you configure robots.txt file in Webflow, Sitemap reference is added automatically. Are you saying you don’t want it to be added?

Either way, /sitemap.xml is the convention for where search engines look, and Webflow follows it.
