Asus i3 ChromeBox

Ok… so today - I received a brand new Asus i3 ChromeBox, and Apple Mini 4 to play with…

courtesy of a large online computer / internet magazine that everyone knows about…
that has 4 letters in the name and starts with the letter “C”.

I sometimes write a couple words here and there for them. Plus I know some of the people there.

And I know - it also has something to do with me

  • being incredibly intelligent, brave, and handsome

So. I thought… hey Chrome Browser + ChromeOS + Webflow…

  • (because I am waiting for Google to buy Webflow)… This seems like a natural fit to me.

Less than 2 minutes after unboxing this mini beast and connecting 2 hdmi monitors…

  • I head over to Webflow… login and…

Would you know it ? Webflow requires minimum version 40 of the Chrome Browser.

With anything less… you can only look. Not touch !!! Well that’s no fun !

AND THERE IS NO WAY TO GET THE LATEST VERSION OF THE CHROME BROWSER ON A CHROMEBOX ?

ARE YOU FRIGG’N SERIOUS GOOGLE ?

This little $246 box (free for intelligent, brave, handsome guys like me) (has so far) functioned perfectly…

  • and could easily become a low cost / highly useful Webflow Designers wet dream…

if only… <sniff> :frowning:

I wonder if I can hack this box.

I am using ChromeBook, which is with Chrome OS too. And I am getting regular updates for OS (so for Chrome browser too). Is there no option “update”? It is usually in Settings…

yes… I tried that. Maybe it comes in cycle like a roll-out.

well… I’ll keep trying. So far though - other than glitch…

a very impressive device.

Still trying to get my bluetooth headset pair though.

One of my mac mini’s keep grabbing the headset.

It is what I am having so far

Sometimes I am just going to press that “Check for and apply updates” and its catch latest version of OS and apps.

Ahhh… Well look at that.

Google must have sensed my deep frustration and high levels of anxiety

  • while I sat here staring intently at where “the Update Button was suppose to be”.

And all the sudden. Poof. It showed up

Version 45.0.2454.86 (64-bit)
Platform 7262.52.0 (Official Build) stable-channel panther
Firmware Google_Panther.4920.24.26

Still no bluetooth headset though.
