An Open Letter to Webflow: The Platform Stability Crisis

Hi Niranjan, were you addressing my post? Thanks

@Mark_Web_Dev what you’re seeing is the result of a backend issue where part of your dashboard was able to load, but the API calls that fetch your site list didn’t complete successfully. This can make it look like everything is missing, even though your sites are still safe and intact.

Our engineering team is actively working to resolve these issues, and restoring full dashboard functionality is a top priority. We really appreciate your patience, and I’ll make sure to follow up as soon as we have more updates.

If you’d like us to take a closer look at your specific workspace in the meantime, feel free to DM me or reach out to support with your account details.

@Veronica-Webflow, as of about 4 hours ago all is working as expected. I’m able to get into the dashboard, all sites are present and publishing is working as well. Thanks for your efforts to get the system up and running. So far no snags today. I hope others are experiencing the same. I’m hopeful that the system continues to work as expected.

Thanks for reaching out and checking on me individually.

That’s insane. I can’t imagine the stress of having your core tool be literally inaccessible. Oh god. :fearful:

We have been taking it kinda cool for 3 days now, but the amount of our clients that aren’t taking this as ‘normal’ is REALY getting on our nerves because we get NO transparancy from webflow whatsoever and the list is growing!!! So what do we tell them? Relax? For (over) 3 days now? This is hurting our clients business, our own business and webflow’s business, because we don’t get a second chance to do a first impression. That’s how the creative world runs! TRUST and no BS hiding behind mistakes/failures…

Hi all, it’s been a frustrating week. In case you missed it, we published two blog posts this morning. One from Allan on the technical root cause and what we’re doing to prevent this from happening again, and one from Linda on where we fell short and how we’re rebuilding trust.

We hope these give you a bit more clarity, but we know that our communication during the incident missed the mark. We’re committed to doing better, and appreciate every single person who chimed in on this thread. We’re taking away lots of important lessons on where to improve.

Thanks for this @Veronica-Webflow, and thanks for the deep dive from Allan.

Week One Update

Checking in a week after posting the open letter to give a transparent status update on platform performance as I’m experiencing it today.

Current State:

  • Publishing: The familiar “Russian Roulette” experience has returned. Started the morning with smooth publishing, but by midday we’re back to the refresh-and-pray cycle. Publishing frequently stalls, requiring browser refreshes to complete.
  • Preview Mode: Experiencing UI issues where page icons in the left panel disappear after exiting preview mode. Makes navigation unnecessarily cumbersome.
  • Settings Access: Hit roadblocks trying to access project settings - interface getting stuck on load.
  • Overall Performance: Would categorise current performance as poor to inconsistent.

The Reality Check: This isn’t about perfection - it’s about predictability. When basic functions like publishing and accessing settings become daily obstacles, it directly impacts client delivery and workflow efficiency.

Still waiting to hear from support on previous tickets. The platform’s potential remains undeniable, but the execution gap continues to affect daily operations.

Hi @Veronica-Webflow:

I noticed a charge of $168.00 on my account yesterday. As far as I’m aware, the only active subscription I currently maintain is for the monthly CMS. I’m unsure if this charge may be related to recent backend issues, which I appreciate your team has been diligently working to resolve.

However, this unexpected charge is concerning and has a significant impact on my business expenses across other ventures. I kindly request a full refund for this transaction at your earliest convenience, as unanticipated charges are not acceptable.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter, and please let me know if you need any additional details from my end.

Update:
I forgot to mention that when I checked my Webflow account under Billing, there’s no record of this transaction. The bank transaction is from Webflow, however.

Dashboard doesn’t load… again…

@Icasnerd apologies for the delay in my response, I wasn’t notified for your latest comment unfortunately. Did you submit a ticket to our support team? They should be able to look into this for you.

Do you have names of the builders that are better?

I’m over the price hikes and unreliability.

Check if you upgraded your workspace recently, and if you have additional users.

Each user costs an additional $49 per month.

If you have an upgraded workspace it’s $19 per month + an additional user of $39 per month. Not sure how they got to $169 - it might be that they added bandwidth or upgraded to Business because of increased traffic.

@Veronica-Webflow No worries. Thanks for getting back to me. I submitted a submit a ticket to our support team and they took care of it right away.

@Marcelle_Combrinck It was the Basic Site plan yearly subscription that auto renewed, even though it had already been cancelled.

Hi! Here in September with 1 - 2 hour publishing battles. I can’t find anything else to optimize. At this point just the thought of publishing changes to our site gives me ulcers. Generic help was no help at all. I remember the good old days of 5-10 minute publishing times lol. What the heck?
